Thirty two of the thirty six drivers on the International Region grid were from Australia or New Zealand, making this a true "down under" Daytona 500. Despite this massive advantage, the winner of the race is a man who hales from Malaysia. John King, team boss at Kinetic was, on this day, "The King" at Daytona. He spent 120 laps at the point of the field and was never far from teammates as Kinetic created what was ultimately an impenetrable wall that kept John on one side and the competition on the other.
In oval racing there is no race that requires; team work, teammates, and team tactics more than the Daytona 500 and Kinetic employed them all perfectly.
